St Louis, MO, December 31, 2009 — At a time when the economy is sluggish and people have to tighten their belts, the staff at Breakthrough Pain Relief Clinics along with their patients helped gather more than 600 food items for the local food pantry. "This goes to show the quality of people that live in our community. They didn't think twice about giving during this holiday season, regardless of their personal situation", says Susie Sipple, support staff responsible for coordinating the program among the offices.

"I feel it is our responsibility as a business not only to raise awareness of some local issues, but to do something about it". Dr Jansen is one of the treatment staff who worked closely with this program to help make it a success. "I look forward to making this a regular program we offer in our offices. Knowing that we can make an impact on our community at such a basic level helps us to know that we are helping everyone in our community, not just our patients."

Breakthrough Pain Relief Clinics is a local network of clinics providing pain management and rehabilitation for back and neck pain conditions. Two of the locations are providing newly developed treatment for diabetic neuropathy. Clinic Director, Dr. Mike Vishion, sees this food drive program evolving into one where it can help those specifically with Type II diabetes better understanding their specialized dietary needs. "With type II diabetes being more than 90% of the type of diabetes, we want to help them learn the best way to choose and prepare food to combat the condition."
